Seahorse

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today is the start of a new challenge at PINspirational!! Before I get to challenge I am sharing my card for today, enjoy!

When I was a young child, maybe five, my sister won a seahorse at our local carnival. She was so excited to share these little fish with everyone. That was until I got to it! I opened up the bag and drank the seahorses!! Poor little guys!! My Dad completely freaked out as I was swiftly sent to the emergency room. The doctor said it was okay and they will digest just fine. Here I am 36 years later to tell the story. I guess all went well.

Well, that should do it for me. I hope you enjoyed your stay but more importantly, I hope you join our challenge at PINspirational. Until then take care and happy stamping!

All the best,
Shawna

Carousel Sunset

Hello Readers,

For today I am playing along with Inspired by All the Little Things and Sunday Stamps. Both of these challenges proved to make a fantastic card!! Well... I'll let you be the judge 😊. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

My inspiration came from a trip my hubby went on 12 years ago
to Chicago's Navy Pier here in the United States.

The inspiration for the sun rays came from the sketch Sunday Stamps
provided. I thought it would be a good way to showcase the Ferris wheel.

The single gem on the Ferris wheel is all the embellishment the card needs.
The picture doesn't do it justice, but the black scene and 'celebrate' sentiment are die cut from sparkle paper. I thought it added a festive feel.

 Challenges Entered:
Inspired by All the Little Things: #44 with Becca Whitham
Sunday Stamps: SSC146- Getting Sketchy

After this post, I have a date with my daughter to go to the mall. We will be picking out a dress for her Daddy/Daughter Dance this Saturday. She is eleven and there won't be too many more dances with dad so he is going to soak up every moment before she gets older. As for me, I will cherish the moments too because it won't be long till she is all grown up.

Well, that should do it for me!! You will see me later in the day so until then take care and thank you for stopping by today! I know we all have busy schedules and your visit is always appreciated. So, until next time, happy stamping.

All the best,

Steampunk Love

Hello Again,

Well, this time I would like to enter CAS Watercolour Card Challenge, Rubber Dance BlogAllsorts Challenge Blog, SSS Wednesday Challenge and, again, Creative with Stamps. Here is my steampunk'ish card for today, enjoy!

This card was watercolored using Brusho paints and water.
Water was applied around the heart using an aqua-brush and Brusho's were then added.
I then added water to the bottom of the heart and let the water drip off the paper, sprayed water for a grungy splattered look.

The simple black 'love' sentiment plays nicely off the black panel.
I think the offset watercolored heart is super effective.
It almost looks like it is peeling away from the panel revealing the image below.

Left/Below: A close up of the heart I used to mask the watercolor panel. This card really took no time at all to create. Right/Bottom: The masking technique really was effective. By using a limited amount of water around the heart it gave me a lot of control with the paint.

Well, that should do it for me!! You will see me later in the day so until then take care and thank you for stopping by today! I know we all have busy schedules and your visit is always appreciated. So, until next time, happy stamping.

Math Color Grids

Hello Everyone,

Today I am playing along with Creative with Stamps. Their theme is very broad which made designing this card more fun! Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Doesn't this look like one of those color by number worksheets from
your childhood (well, mine at least)?
Below is a color by number grid worksheet:

Remember?
I enjoyed created the color combination of blues and pinks. I tried to create a grid
ombre effect with the blue background and some shading on the heart.
Detail shot of the sentiment.
Building up the love seemed like a good choice for this design.
the 'you' sentiment is actually part of a larger stamp from SU.

Challenges Entered:

I know Valentine's Day is long over and we are looking forward to St. Patrick's Day and Easter, but when your daughter asks you do a card for her; well... you do it! Like I said above this reminds me of the math grid puzzles I did when I was a child. I always found them fun trying to figure out the picture not knowing I was learning at the same time. Oh, those sneaky teachers!

Well, that should do it for me!! You will see me later in the day so until then take care and thank you for stopping by today! I know we all have busy schedules and your visit is always appreciated. So, until next time, happy stamping.

All the best,
Shawna

CASE'ing Flowers

Hello Friends,

Today I will be throwing my hat into the ring of The Flower Challenge and CAS Watercolour Card Challenge. There are many firsts from this post. One, I have never joined this challenge before and excited to be a part of it! Second, I have never actually CASE'ed a card before. So here is my card inspired by Therese from 'Lost in Paper', enjoy!

Above: Is my design, inspired by Below
Therese fantastic Spring rose card!
Inspiration card- Source
______________________

I really do enjoy all the variegated color of the roses. This theme is
shown on the inspiration card and turned out to be one of the biggest themes on my card.

I like the smaller yet brighter sentiment under the die-cut.
Eye-catching yet not intrusive.
Challenges Entered:
The Flower Challenge: #5- CASE the Designer
CAS Watercolour: February 2017- Love

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon, but until then take care and happy stamping.

All the best,
Shawna

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Hello Everyone,

Remember that song by Bonnie Tyler back in 1983; Or am I aging myself? Anyway, for today I will be playing along with CAS(E) this Sketch. I couldn't get this sketch out of my mind. The card came instantly but needed to find the time to create it... So, here I am, ready to share it with you. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The moon is an Altenew set called 'To the Moon'.
The paper that it is stamped on is has a metallic sheen.
How the picture was shot looks amazingly real!!

The stars in the background were done with a spray bottle filled
with white acrylic paint and water.
I think it did a good job!
The sentiment also comes from the same set. This has become one of my favorite
stamp sets. The moon is popped up with dimensional adhesive to give it a bit of depth.
Plus, I really like the shadow it casts.

Challenges Entered:
CAS(E) this Sketch:  CTS #209

Today is an absolutely gorgeous day. I still have yet to walk our dog, Crown. I think this is the first time since fall that I am actually looking forward to walking him. It has been cold this winter, and for me, winter has never been my friend. So why do I stay up here in Michigan? Well, it is beautiful, we have the seasons, and the winter keeps most of the bugs (at least the big ones) away. I can handle a bit of cold to keep them away... They give me the heebie-jeebies... shutter...

Okay, well I am going to walk Crown and let you go back to enjoying your day. Take care all and thank you for stopping by today! I know we all have busy schedules and your visit is always appreciated. Take care and until next time, happy stamping.

All the best,
Shawna

Pretty as a Pitcher

Hello Crafty Friends,

Hello again, and welcome once again to our February release set from MHKDesigns! This next set blew me away and was so excited to work with the set.  Here is my card for today, enjoy!

The sentiment was printed along with the water canister.
I simply die cut it out, applied dimensional adhesive, and placed it exactly on top of the color area.
It seems to me that you can't even tell part of the canister is right on the sentiment banner.

I really don't know how successful I was trying to make this look 3 dimensional.
I tried to stay consistent with my lighting source so the shadows weren't so wonky.

Cloud 9 CAS style

Hello Friends!

For today I am playing along with AAA Cards, City Crafter Challenge Blog and CAS(E) this Sketch. Love is still in the air and thought I would make this for hubby. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Count the hearts; I promise there are nine in the bunch.
However, one is a negative cutout with a single velvet heart.
This CAS card does have layers but I think they were needed
because clouds are one dimensional.
The bottom of the banner is curved to hint at some land below the clouds.
These clouds kind of remind me of The Simpsons clouds.
 Challenges Entered:
AAA Cards: Game #83- Shape your LOVE
CAS(E) this sketch- CTS#208
City Crafter Challenge Blog: Week 349- Old Stuff, New Look!

This design is similar to a card I did awhile back. Click here to see the original design. I thought I would freshen up the design a bit by creating more white space and incorporating the CAS(E) sketch. I think it turned out well.

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon, but until then take care and happy stamping.

All the best,
Shawna
